The Proper Way to Play Video Poker

December 9th, 2018 at 2:25

Video Poker is a favored game that can be enjoyed in casinos around the world, or alternatively at your house on your personal computer, using an Internet connection. The regulations are very simple and involve the player trying to achieve the best combination of cards achievable in order to acquire money. In this respect it’s very similar as a normal game of poker, apart from the involvement with other players. Of course, techniques employed during a real-life game of poker, like bluffing, will be useless here.

The game of Electronic Poker starts when the gambler inserts credits (whether it is tokens, credit slips or money) into the machine and pushes the deal button. A hand of five cards will be "given out" on the screen.

The Video Poker game also has buttons with ‘hold’ printed on them, and enthusiasts will need to now decide which cards to keep and which to discard. For the cards the gambler wishes to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can decide to keep any number of cards they want, whether it is all or none.

After the gambler has decided on which cards he or she wishes to retain, the player will then press ‘deal’, at which point any fresh cards are dealt if desired. The game is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine scanning the cards to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands listed in the pay out schedule.

Normally, the lowest winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money getting larger for each and every better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It goes without saying that the pay out schedule can change from game to game, so that skillful gamblers are agile enough to select the most money-making machine each and every time.

Once the initial round has finished, the player can either decide to remain on in an attempt to maximize their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any credits that they may have won. Additionally, a few versions of the game give the player an opportunity to increase their winnings, in which instance another game is played. There are also differences among specific games, with some virtual decks having wild cards and other differing characteristics to increase playability.
