Video Poker is a beloved game that is able to be played in casinos throughout the globe, or alternatively at your house on your computer, using a net connection. The game rules are absolutely straightforward and consist of the player attempting to get the best mixture of cards as you can in order to come away with money. In this respect it’s much the same as a classic game of poker, apart from the interaction with competing players. Of course, tactics used in a real-life game of poker, like tricking, will be irrelevant in Video Poker.
The game of Video Poker starts when the gambler puts credits (either tokens, tickets or cash) into the machine and presses the play button. A 5 card hand will be "handed out" on the screen.
The Video Poker machine also has hold buttons, and players will need to now decide which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the bettor would like to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any amount of cards they want, whether it is all or none.
After the gambler has decided on which cards she would like to retain, they should press ‘draw’, which will mean that any fresh cards will be handed out if desired. The hand is now completed, with the Electronic Poker machine scanning the hand to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands shown on the payment schedule.
Generally, the minimum succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money getting larger for each better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It should be known that the payment schedule can range from game to game, so that discerning gamblers are agile enough to select the most money-making game each and every time.
Once the initial round has finished, the player can either choose to remain on in an attempt to maximize their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any cash that has been won. Further, a few versions of the game give the bettor an opportunity to double their wins, in which case a further hand is played. There are also variations between specific games, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other differing aspects to increase playability.
